| April Barton |
| “Never compromise your artistic integrity,
the best is yet to come”, has become a mantra for April Barton’s Suite 303 and she stands by it.
Barton has always had a passion for hair and people, bringing out the best in both, are what she’s
good at. Her journey began in the late 80’s at the height of the punk scene in London, where she
assisted in opening the first School of Hairdressing. Then in the early 90’s she sold all of her
belongings to buy a one-way ticket to New York City. After working at various salons and becoming
a platform artist, she decided it was time to break free from the tradition and artistic
constraints of the hair industry, so in 1995 she checked into the legendary Chelsea Hotel and
Suite 303 was born. Tucked away on the third floor of the former home of Jimi Hendrix, Sid Vicious,
Janis Joplin and many others, Suite 303 truly carries on the legacy. Her clientele of artists,
actors, musicians and anyone who believes in the liberation of individual expression, has helped
Barton create her now-realized vision, of a salon where artistic minds meet, inspire and
transform. Recently, in 2007 Barton was featured in a Canadian documentary “Women on Top” and
you can currently catch her on this season of TLC’s 10 Years Younger, as Chief Hairstylist.
“Suite 303 is more than just a hair salon it’s a place for people who are confident in who they
are and aren’t afraid to show it.” |
